This picture needs no explanation; it shows one of the main applications of ImmerSeal®. A small bead of adhesive sealant attaches the pre-cured silicone joint seal to the healthy substrate, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing, economical and long lasting sealing solution.

The same is true in new applications.
Why not do it right the first time!

- A Valuable Tool in Weatherproofing

Failed or rotted wet applied joint sealant, leaky skylights, leaky windows, open cracks in building cladding, flashing leaks, leaking roof lap joints and under-sized joints are all frustrating problems we encounter in weatherproofing. Fortunately, for many of these problems, there is a permanent remediation option available: ImmerSeal® preformed silicone joint seal. The unique properties of ImmerSeal® make it ideally suited for a great variety of applications, where other materials have failed time and time again. When properly applied, ImmerSeal® provides an economical, attractive, and permanently watertight sealing solution. Just a simple, straight forward approach to weatherproofing new and remedial construction projects.

In remedial applications, there is no need to cut and grind out the failed sealant. Simply apply ImmerSeal® pre-cured joint sealant over the top of the failing joint, crack, or leak. This approach is especially effective when working with soft or sensitive substrates because grinding and removal of the failed sealant can cause even more costly damage to the substrates. As a result total project time and, more importantly, project cost may be dramatically reduced. Best of all, ImmerSeal® is readily available in many standard sizes, colors and finishes to fit the needs of most any project.

- More Sealing Solutions

Because preformed sealant extrusions have been successfully used for failed sealant repair and are rapidly becoming accepted by the industry as a viable alternative to cutting out failed sealant, more and more contractors, architects, consultants and specifiers are taking a closer look at the benefits of using preformed joint seals. Though pre-formed silicone extrusions are not the answer to every sealing problem, they have also started to find uses in new construction. As extruded sealant becomes more established in the construction industry, it is expected that changes in basic joint design will occur to take advantage of their benefits in new construction.

Examples of Possible Joint Designs

Example 1: Simple bridge type joint design with prefabricated recesses in the substrates for flush installation of the preformed joint seal.

Example 2: Architectural joint design in concave configuration to help hide unsightly expansion joint details.

Example 3: Architectural joint design in concave configuration with prefabricated recesses in the substrates for “snap in assisted” flush installation of the preformed joint seal.

Example 4: "U" Joint design can be used in a standard joint configuration and results in a joint that looks as good as or better than a tooled wet sealant joint.

Finally, we can almost certainly conclude that preformed silicone joint seals are here to stay. Though it is not likely that preformed joint seals will replace all other sealing systems, their share of the market will continue to grow. The scope and magnitude of their use in the construction industry will greatly depend upon the collaboration between contractors, specifiers, architects, consultants and the manufacturers.
