Sealex, Inc. prides itself on its achievements of developing unique patented silicone extrusion technology. Sealex consists of a small, yet productive and flexible collection of talents, whose mission is to develop and manufacture innovative products to serve the sealing needs of various industries.
Sealex, Inc. was founded by Peter Hagen in 1992 in Midland, Michigan. Peter's two sons, Matthias and Robert, have also played key roles in the development of Sealex. Two years of research and development work for the product and process yielded a unique pre-cured silicone sealant product along with all the equipment necessary to produce it. In 1994 Sealex relocated to Harbor Springs, Michigan and in 1996 Peter contracted the construction of a new 10,000 ft2 manufacturing and development facility which now houses all of Sealex’s operations. In 2007 a 3,000 ft2 addition to the facility was built to meet the increased warehousing and production needs of the growing company.
Today Sealex is jointly owned by Matthias Hagen, Robert Hagen & Jason Bakus. Together the officers boast in excess of 40 years in silicone development and manufacturing experience. The current management structure is as follows:
Robert Hagen: President
Matthias Hagen: Vice President
Jason Bakus: Vice President
Peter Hagen: Chairman
Robert Hagen is currently in charge of managing the day to day operations of the company. Matthias Hagen's responsibilities include manufacturing, product development and color matching, as well as die design and fabrication. Jason Bakus joined the Sealex team in 2004 to handle the sales and marketing functions for the company. Peter remained the technical driving force for new product and process technologies until his retirement in 2009. Chris Bovee joined Sealex in 2007, working closely with Peter until his retirement and Chris is now in charge of Sealex’s research and development work. While Peter is no longer involved in the day to day operations of the company, he still provides invaluable guidance for the ongoing technical developments at Sealex.
Early in the development of the company, Sealex’s pre-cured sealant products were commercialized in conjunction with several major marketing partners in the weatherproofing segment of the construction industry. These partnerships are still in place and strong today and the products have a bright future in this area of the industry. Over the past several years, the ImmerSeal® and ImmerBond® pre-cured silicone sealant and silicone adhesive product lines were developed. These products have been introduced and integrated into a variety of markets within the construction industry including weatherproofing, metal buildings, IG/Window/Door, transportation, and many others.
In addition to supporting and serving its customers, Sealex’s goal has always been to continuously improve its products and processing capabilities while maintaining uncompromised quality standards. Sealex’s flexibility with respect to processing and product design is enhanced by an extensive laboratory featuring state of the art testing equipment and computerized color matching capability. Sealex’s capabilities include in house CAD - CAM custom die fabrication coupled with extensive experience in custom die design and support. The facility offers ample production capacity and room for expansion.
Sealex’s commitment to continually improve upon its patented silicone extrusion technology, combined with its focus on customer satisfaction and service, has proven to be a successful combination and will continue to be Sealex's focus in the future.
